Yesterday’s Super Bowl XLVII created more Twitter traffic than the three presidential debates combined. In fact, according to the Twitter blog, during the power outage there was 231,500 Tweets per Minute. MarketingLand even found that Twitter was mentioned in 50% of Super Bowl commercials. Twitter wasn’t the only one seeing interesting spikes and data science around the Super Bowl. Tumblr had its own Uberbowl Tumblr allowing users to tag #SuperBowl and sharing the best of the posts. Facebook did data science around the Facebook fans of NFL teams and the two Super Bowl contenders.
